Just a follow-up for those that come across this post upon searching. I fixed my rattle by putting a C-clip in the gap in the hod hinge. I just tapped it in with a hammer and it filled the gap, this not allowing it to slide and rattle from being loose. I believe over time, the washers in between the hinge plates and the hood loosen and actually come out; one of mine was actually missing, and thus the C-clip replaced it perfectly. I believe it was a 5/8" clip for reference.
